                      1. Good morning, I'm thinking about how sick my mom was in the late 90s into the early 00s before she was finally diagnosed with terminal cancer spread throughout her GI system and abdomen. And despite being over 50... she never got a colonoscopy?

                      I looked at recommendations last night, it looks like some kind of testing over 50, no matter your gender, was recommended and she was definitely the kind of person who'd do what a doctor suggested, so I assume it was her doctor not suggesting it.

                    (that is, I looked for older recommendations, now it's over 45) Which is staggering to me as I look back, because I was homeschooled in my teens and I know EXACTLY how much gastric distress she was in. But they did some elimination diets and they shrugged and told her IBS.

                  I don't think she could have exactly snuck in a colonoscopy because, again, homeschooled. I'd have known about the prep. And plus, it would've found all that cancer that required a emergency major surgery in 2004 (we're talking hysterectomy, section of colon removed, a LOT).

                Me, I've been having 6 months of gastric problems, and they're like "get a camera in this woman! get two cameras in this woman! let them meet in the middle and drive in a gold spike or something!" (I assume it's sequential, I won't be awake for it)

              Of course, I have that nice big glaring line in my chart about how my mother died from a cancer in her GI tract. So that's kind of a 🚨🚨🚨.

            I also don't want to worry folks, I don't think it's the same cancer -- I'm very familiar with that one and I am missing one key symptom, hot flashes...you can see why it gets missed in middle-aged women.

      Also -- this morning I basically feel no effects of yesterday -- I got really good care and I am very grateful to everyone. (It's almost a little bizarre how little extra I feel)
