      1. The most random way in which the Webb telescope touched my life -- when the Goddard library was being renovated, we got moved into office space in partly-renovated warehouse directly across the road from the Webb project.

      The warehouse was supposed to be demolished but if they did that, they'd have broken the Webb. So it had surplus, one ad hoc lab, and a little backroom full of librarians. (and I could walk over to the Webb viewing whenever I wanted)

      thanks to a friend of a friend, I got to set a drive path for the Spirit rover after it was dead (so I couldn't have possibly actually driven it, but I could model it)
