Reflections from this morning's pre-work exercise: Forget "the only person you're competing against is yourself." Don't compete with yourself either. You're doing whatever it is for your own goals, your own body, your own reasons. You don't have to beat your best time.

I was doing yoga and I'm quite flexible though not always "good" at yoga. When I was dancing (long story) we competed for flexibility, like teens do, and even our teachers encouraged us to always be doing better. Now I'm looking for "enough" and for what that means to me.

20 years later, MY enough looks like being able to walk long distances, not fast, because that does matter to me. My enough helps me avoid the stiffness/mobility struggle I get when I don't move my body. If I'm the same degree of somewhat-flexible, that's all I care about.
